Under the direction of the Executive Director, we seek an HR Director who will lead and manage the overall administration of human resource services, policies, and programs for Futures Explored, Inc. In this leadership role, the HR Director will be responsible for, but not limited to, recruitment, retention, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and training and development initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees all aspects of the employment lifecycle from hiring, onboarding, professional development/training, performance management, compensation, benefits, to exit; serves as the lead and a navigator to assist and support staff and supervisors throughout their employment journey.
- Champions the development and implementation of initiatives to educate management and staff on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) topics and issues.
- Routinely reviews and makes recommendations to leadership for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures, and practices as it relates to personnel matters.
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation as outlined in the employee handbook and related documents.
- Ensures compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and employment laws.
- Routinely reviews and makes recommendations to leadership for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures, and practices as it relates to HR matters.
- Promotes positive employee relations through design, communication, and interpretation of human resources policies and programs.
- Coordinates and manages the agency’s grievance policy and procedures.
- Coordinates and implements retention strategies and succession planning processes.
- Adheres to legal requirements and federal, state, and local regulations affecting human resource activities/functions. Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Manages performance management and feedback processes and programs.
- Evaluates, recommends, and participates in staff development for the organization. Collaborates with various departments to create and maintain up-to-date job descriptions.
- Consults with the leadership team to assess training needs. Assists with the development of training plans and programs; organizes training sessions, workshops, and activities; evaluates the effectiveness and provides recommendations and improvements.
- Oversees recruiting, selection, and onboarding processes.
- Oversees the administration of employee benefits and services to include health care programs, Cal Savers retirement savings plan, leaves of absences, disability insurance, and Workers’ Compensation.
- Provides proactive guidance and counsel to managers and employees on employee relations issues.
- Participates with CARF accreditation and compliance of specified standards and reporting requirements.
- Leads, develops, directs, and evaluates the HR team in a way that models organizational values and builds an environment of learning and growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study and a minimum of five years related experience. An equivalent of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Working knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
- Ability to champion new ideas, manage change, and execute on action plans.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment regulations.
- Willingness to be hands-on when necessary.
- Results-oriented and able to demonstrate strategic thinking and flexibility in dealing with changing and ambiguous situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of governing standards of non-profits and regulations.
