Industrial Hygiene Technician

Redwood Materials is looking for an Industrial Hygiene Technician to join our growing EHS team! The successful candidate will be able to anticipate, recognize, and evaluate hazards in the occupational environment. The Industrial Hygiene Technician will be responsible for the performance of tasks related to reducing employee risk via quantitative and qualitative exposure assessments, hazard communication, incident investigation, and job hazard analysis (JHA).

Responsibilities will include:

  • Represent Industrial Hygiene in our battery processing and manufacturing facilities guiding operators and technicians in safe and healthful work practices and behaviors
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment used to enter confined spaces, collect quantitative exposure assessments, and noise/air monitoring as needed
  • Deliver effective Industrial Hygiene training and maintain training records
  • Support the incident investigation process through incident documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Perform task safety assessments using health risk assessments and development of Standard Work Instructions (SWI)
  • Coordinate the use and delivery of PPE and train operators in proper PPE donning/doffing techniques
  • Collaborate closely with multiple levels of the organization including Operators, Engineers, and Leadership
  • Work with Safety Specialist and the Industrial Hygienist to complete EHS/IH objectives within scope

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficient at MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook
  • Experience with direct reading instrumentation and personal exposure sampling equipment
  • Ability to perform the necessary physical tasks associated with the position including bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing stairs and ladders, standing, and walking (multiple level building) up to 12 hours daily, and an ability to work in manufacturing and construction environments
  • Strong team mentality and effective communication skills
  • Able to respond to employee exposure incidents
  • Ability to understand and apply detailed written and oral instructions, documents, and procedure manuals
  • Capacity to work independently and safely with minimal supervision
  • A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!

Current Shifts:

  • Begin on an 8am to 4pm Mon – Fri shift
  • Flexibility to change as the company continues to grow

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
