Ascensus Specialties is looking for an experienced I&E Technician to join their Evans City, PA maintenance team. This is a senior level position which is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial instrumentation and control systems. (or - This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity and reliability of all electrical, instrumentation, and control systems including installation, troubleshooting and repair.) Additionally, the successful candidate must have a strong commitment to safety.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and calibrate a wide variety of field instrumentation devices such as, but not limited to, flow meters, transmitters, sensors, analyzers, data loggers, programmable logic controller (PLCs), distributive control system (DCS).
  • Configure industrial control systems. Perform loops checks, point-to-point verification and other testing regimes.
  • Functionally tests instrument and electrical control loops through to field devices to verify proper operation.
  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical equipment such as, but not limited to, motor control centers, transformers, switches, relays, wiring, variable frequency drive (VFD), power distribution center (PDCs), uninterrupted power source (UPS).
  • Efficiently troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment control circuits & process control equipment
  • Performs and documents process and product analyzers calibration checks
  • Sets up and safely operate all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned work
  • Completes simple preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with major repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work independently. Keep supervisor informed of task progress or conditions that prevent you from completing a task. Complete required documentation for tasks.
  • Actively participate in supporting site safety culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year work experience, experience in an industrial plant in the operations or maintenance departments is preferable
  • Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot 4-20 mA transmitter and electro-pneumatic control loops
  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot pneumatic control systems consisting of I/Ps, solenoid valves, quick exhausts, actuators, regulators, and proportional/integral controllers both stand alone and cascaded
  • Understanding of trip and interlock logic
  • Ability to interpret drawings including P&IDs, PFDs, and electrical drawings including Single line diagrams
  • Basic knowledge of motors and motor control systems.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC & DCS control philosophes and graphic packages.
  • Understanding of instrumentation (Pressure, Level, Flow, and Temperature transmitters).
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge, with the skillset to identify and avoid electrical hazards in compliance with NFPA/NEC 70E Electrical Safety Standards.
  • demonstrated the appropriate knowledge and skillset and has received safety training to identify and avoid electrical hazards
· Ability to operate industrial equipment, including forklifts and personnel lifting equipment.
  • Responsible for addressing routine maintenance problems following a prescribed detailed course of action.
  • Troubleshooting skills to trace and identify the root cause of equipment and instrument failure.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Office, and Outlook or equivalent.
  • Experience following safety rules and safety procedures including, Safe Work Permit, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Line Break, Hot Work, and Confined Space Entry.
  • Ability to wear and maintain PPE standards. Periodically required to wear a full face respirator.
