The IS Support Tech follows established process and procedures to deliver, configure, monitor, test, maintain and troubleshoot end-point devices, applications or networks. Performs accurate documentation. Read and interpret technical documentation to complete moves, changes, and break/fix for hardware or software components. Participates on cross functional, integrated teams to troubleshoot moderately complex issues. Acts as a liaison between customers and vendors to ensure requests, issues and problems are resolved in a timely manner. Functions under direct supervision and may be required to be on call.

This ideal candidate has experience as a true hybrid tech – Installation, Support, Troubleshooting of desktop, laptop, network and telecom issues. Has 1-2 years of experience with switches and/or telecom systems including Cisco, Avaya or similar experience. A good understanding of network concepts and experience working with switches and Vlan highly desirable. Analog phone punch down experience along with newer digital phone systems and how they interconnect with desktops along with good documentation and communication skills.

Other job duties include:

  • Addressing all I.S. customer concerns at Scripps assigned location(s) and other duties as assigned.
  • Work on desktops and multiple peripherals (signature pads, scanners, printers, badge readers), along with network switches, Avaya phone system, Android and Apple iPhone (IOS), IDF closets.
  • Documentation of Service Now incidents, Tasks, Projects.
  • Work on projects, moves, adds, changes and disposition of equipment.

This is a full time, benefit eligible position located On-Site in San Diego. Must be available for on-call rotation, 2 weeks out of every 10-12 weeks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent critical and analytical thinking and excellent customer service skills.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of the operations and functions of end-point devices, including (but not limited to) PCs, software, network switches, printers, patch panels, phones or faxes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years experience in IT
  • 1-2 years experience with installation and configuration of hardware including desktops, laptops, Android and IOS phones, credit card readers, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • A+, Network+, CCNA, Project+, Security+, SCCM certification preferred.
  • Bachelors degree.
  • Server experience is a definite plus.
  • Software knowledge including MS365, Teams, One Drive, SharePoint and Visio.
