JCI provides a variety of services designed to assist persons with disabilities in attaining and retaining competitive employment in a community setting. JCI provides assistance with workplace readiness competencies, job placement, job training, job supports and community integration for persons served.

Job Support Specialists are responsible for implementing, providing and documenting community based job coaching services for persons that have been placed in employment.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and evaluate the training and job coaching needs of persons served through review of applicable psychological, medical records and observations in relation to job requirements.
• Provide one on one training and job coaching
• Provide instruction on appropriate work habits and behaviors
• Provide outcome data to management

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Knowledge of local job markets, required job skills and ability to establish partnerships
• Ability to recognize and use effective instructional methods and available resources
• To maintain effective working relationships with staff and business representatives
• Work collaboratively and cooperatively with project partners, including LEA, NCDVR, NCDSB, employers, etc.

Education & Experience:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent with one year of work experience.

Preferred: Associate degree in mental health or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
