Who You Are:

The Urban Electric Company has grown over the last decade into a global presence in the shelter industry. We design, market and manufacture high-end, bench crafted lighting fixtures. We are currently seeking an experienced Lab / Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing shop by performing preventative and corrective maintenance for industrial facilities and equipment. A Day in the Life:
  • Perform standard qualitative and quantitative analysis on purchased raw materials and in-process products
  • Set-up, perform, and review routine chemical analysis and chemical adjustments for finishing tanks
  • Prepare samples for analysis by wet chemistry, titration, and other required instrumentation.
  • Perform testing of water samples from Purified (Deionized and Reverse Osmosis) Water, USP systems
  • Maintenance of laboratory and tank equipment, including cleaning and routine Quality Control activities.
  • Performs both preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment as needed
  • Follows Maintenance work orders, standard operating procedures and technical documentation to perform duties
  • Coordinates with Production and Fabrication management regarding facility and equipment needs and concerns
  • Adhere to all aspects of Urban Electric safety programs
  • Perform special assignments as directed by supervisor
  • Able to work in team-centered and individual contributor roles seamlessly
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of organization and external contractors
  • Assists with control of the Hazwaste 90 day area
  • Responds to hazardous waste emergencies and assists with cleanup if required

Position Requirements:
  • High school diploma required (Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, etc a plus!)
  • 2-3 years of prior lab or maintenance experience
  • Computer Proficiency
  • Safely operate hand and power tools
  • Prior experience with shop tools and industrial equipment a plus!
  • Chemical titration analysis and chemical adjustments a plus!
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing and/or lab facility
  • Understanding of OSHA Safety Requirements
  • HazWoper 40 hour and annual 8 hour refresher training (provided)

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to wear PPE as required
Primary Location:
  • This position will be located at our brand new, state of the art Ashley River Campus (ARC).
  • The physical address for this position will be at 4500 Leeds Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405.
