Description & Requirements

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP seeks a highly qualified associate to join the Labor & Employment and Education Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a team player to join a growing higher education practice. This position may be in any of our North Carolina offices.
This role will focus on providing high quality legal services to higher educational institutions in in areas such as Title IX, faculty employment, student and academic affairs, and athletics. Duties include conducting internal investigations, litigation, legal research, drafting policies, conducting training, and counseling clients. In addition, the role may include serving as an external investigator or hearing officer in Title IX matters.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Candidates must possess exceptional analytical, written, and oral communication skills, a strong work ethic, and excellent academic credentials.
  • A background in employment law, both litigation and counseling, is preferred. Experience working with education clients is helpful.
  • The ability to manage multiple client needs.

Education and Experience
  • Ideal candidates must have 2 to 6 years of experience in the area of employment and education law, including conducting or advising on investigations.
  • Candidates must be licensed or have the ability to become licensed to practice law in the state in which they will work.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, codes, rules, regulations, court decisions, and legal interpretations related to employment and students in higher educational institutions.
