Job Summary

As a Laboratory Technical, you will perform a range of microbiological and analytical laboratory support activities.

Essential Functions

Work will vary based on the need of your business / location. Work could include, but not limited to:

• Assist with various task in the office and duties within the laboratory.

• Perform physical, bacteriological, chemical, or serological tests on a variety of samples.

• Perform a variety of dairy procedures including standard and lab pasteurized plate counts, coliform counts, mastitis tests, RID assays, phosphatase and inhibitory substances tests.

• Prepare specialized bacteriological culture media and reagents according to formulae.

• Follow standards and procedures to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

• Log samples and related pertinent information.

• Keep detailed records.

• Operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment.

• Keep up to date with technical developments.

• As business needs require pick up milk samples and deliver them to the lab in a timely fashion and meet predetermined route expectations while handling all customer interactions with professionalism, skill, and expediency.

• Perform all work in accordance with Company Safety guidelines and procedures including all required Safety and Compliance Training and regulatory licensing

• Perform other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED

• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record

• Basic laboratory skills and understanding of general lab and office equipment

• Solid computer and data management skills in a minimum of MS Word, Excel and Access

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize

• Good analytical skills and troubleshooting capabilities

• Significant attention to detail

• Self-Motivated

• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

• Capable of working independently with some guidance

• Accuracy and attention to detail

• Able to work as an effective team member

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months experience preferred

• Laboratory experience a strong plus

Physical Demands

• Stationary position 75% of the time

• Operating a computer and other standard laboratory devices for the majority of the workday.

• incumbent be exposed to various chemicals and samples in laboratory
