Job Duties:

• Generates all applicable documentation forms for assigned studies and submits for review prior to study initiation involving necropsy and histology
• Maintains accurate data and master books on all studies
• Attends study specific meetings
• Assists in client visits and study initiations
• Interacts with scientific staff, management, and technical reviewer to ensure proper study execution and communicates any potential problems with protocols, SOPs and schedules
• Understands Validation process and supports implementation
• Communicates effectively within the study team involving study responsibilities and serves as a back up
• Orders appropriate study related materials as needed (ie, solutions, etc.)
• Understands and reviews CMS to ensure accuracy
• Leads pre-necropsy meetings and pre-histology meetings
• Assists supervisor with scheduling necropsy and histology needs for assigned studies
• Performs basic duties of necropsy/DART and/or basic duties of histology
• Performs advanced necropsy/histology duties and multiple specialized technical procedures with proficiency
• Understands and interprets complex study protocols
• Uses applicable anatomic terms and scientific language routinely
• Performs various methods of euthanasia on multiple species according to USDA regulations (if applicable)
• Participates in quality controls and assures correction of errors (incl. documentation)
• Reviews own and others data and identifies potential problems
• Mentors and instructs less experienced staff in basic lab processes
• Develops new technical procedures or optimizes existing processes in various areas as needed
• Promotes client expectations by rallying self and others to meet timelines
• Utilizes computer programs (forms and procedure generation) and systems (data capture)
• Demonstrates a high degree of adaptability, initiative, and productivity in completion of broad range of routine and non-routine procedures
• Recognizes changing situations and priorities to rapidly adapt strategies
• Assumes responsibility for more complex or non-routine study designs and leads in lab
• Initiates Process Excellence and method development projects
• Reports all animal care concerns and becomes involved in the resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary
• Promotes and maintains a safe and clean work environment
• Maintains client confidentiality at all times
• Performs other duties as assigned
