The basic purpose of this role is to promote and enable a successful and efficient collaboration between Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. (BIPI) Clinical Development & Operations (CD&O) department and Strategic CRO Partner and vendors.
The BIPI CD&O Local Vendor Management Specialist supports BIPI CD&O Vendor Managers and stakeholders to ensure vendor engagements are running smoothly and efficiently.
As an individual contributor within the BIPI CD&O Local Vendor Management function, the incumbent will be instrumental in supporting BIPI CD&O Vendor Managers and the BIPI CD&O Head of Vendor Management in promoting and ensuring a proper level of performance, delivery, and relationship health of various vendor engagements
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Supports Local Vendor Management team members with the assessment and onboarding of new vendors (e.g., new supplier requests, qualifications, contracting).
  • Coordinates the onboarding and offboarding (e.g., system access, learning plans) of newly assigned CRO-FSP, insourced, and temporary staffing resources.
  • Generates performance/metric reports to monitoring the performance of vendor engagements and updates performance scorecards (where applicable).
  • Administers BIPI/Vendor relationship surveys.
  • Monitors vendor performance metrics/KPIs, and alerts Local Vendor Management team members of potential non-compliances or performance that is below an acceptable level.
  • Coordinates the establishment of Confidential Disclosure Agreements on a trial and vendor level basis.
  • Supports Local Vendor Management team members with developing/generating contractual documents (e.g., Change Orders).
  • Coordinates capability meetings for new potential vendors.
  • Participates and supports vendor due diligence activities in conjunction with Local Vendor Management and BIPI CD&O Functional teams.
  • Liaises with Finance and BIPI CD&O Functional Areas to monitor and adjusts as needed trial/functional level Purchase Orders.
  • Serves as BIPI’s CD&O resident expert on Purchase to Pay processes and tools.
  • Supports Local Vendor Management personnel with the development of business review/governance meeting agendas & presentations.
  • Captures meeting minutes and ensure governance documentation is filed according to established processes and procedures.
  • Provides analytical support to Local Vendor Management personnel & functional teams by generating standard and ad-hoc reports related to vendor engagement activities.
  • Supports Local Vendor Management team personnel, BIPI CD&O Functional Areas & Ethics & Compliance with vendor related items (e.g., vendor non-compliances) tied to aggregate spend/ Sunshine Act reporting activities.
  • Supports BIPI’s CD&O Head of Vendor Management with local and global initiatives focusing on the development of tools, processes and instructions aimed at continuously enhancing performance and service delivery at a OPU level.
  • Provides evidence of continuous improvement and relationship with CRO and vendors for activities within respective OPU.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a preference for two (2) years of experience in clinical research setting or similar industry with a preferred focus on vendor management and/or clinical outsourcing practices, OR six (6) years of relevant clinical research experience, or similar industry with a preferred focus on vendor management and/or clinical outsourcing practices.
  • Major focus: Science or Business.
  • Relevant experience within pharmaceutical industry or similar industry.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
