The focus of pharmacy services is to ensure that medication use is optimal, safe and effective for all patients all of the time. This care is coordinated with the patient, physician, nurse and other health care professionals involved in the care of the patient to achieve positive patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

• Plan, organize, and oversee the clinical pharmacy activities of the department
• Continuously assess and improve the performance of pharmaceutical care and services provided
• Develop educational material (ex: lunch and learn presentations, newsletters or other educational documents) for pharmacy staff, doctors, nurses, and ancillary departments.
• Conduct educational presentations to pharmacy staff, doctors, nurses, and ancillary departments
• Manage hospital drug costs through effective Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee initiatives
• Actively participate in multidisciplinary approach to patient care, including rounds with Intensivists, Family Practice Resident Teaching service and Hospitalists
• Lead or support policy and procedure updates related to the departments clinical practice
• Pharm D. with residency or 5 years acute care experience required
