Optimus Health Care is a Federally Qualified Health Care Center with sites operating in Bridgeport, Stamford and Stratford, CT. We are the largest provider of primary health care services in Fairfield County, proudly serving all patients regardless of their ability to pay.

We are presently recruiting for a full-time Medical Assistant to join one of our primary care clinics located in* Stamford CT.*

This position will encompass both clinical and administrative Medical Assistant duties. The successful candidate must be a Certified Medical Assistant, possessing one of the following credentials: CMA, RMA, CCMA, and NCMA or be prepared to obtain certification within 90 days if hired. Additionally, bilingual in English and Spanish, helpful and possess a strong mix of clinical and front office skills. CPR certification required upon hire and recertification bi-annually

Postion Summary:*
The Medical Assistant is a member of the patient centered medical home (PCMH) care team responsible for working with providers, nurses, and other front office staff to ensure the complete and timely patient flow process. This individual exhibits sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population and must maintain strict confidentiality. Conducts initial intake of patients Explores community resources available to meet the clients’ needs Maintain ongoing networking efforts w/community providers in the area Update patient information Collects co-pays Takes patient history & vital signs Prepares patients for exam & treatment Prepares exam rooms w/ necessary equipment & supplies Assists with scheduling of tests & treatments Assists with administrative tasks as needed .

Job Qualification/Requirements:*
Professional positive attitude, vision, understanding of customer service principals, trustworthiness, and excellent interpersonal skills to successfully accomplish tasks necessary to meet high standards of ethical and social responsibility required by this position.
Education: Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program. Professional Medical Assistant Certification obtained through one of the following agencies: AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT. Intimate knowledge of language and culture of a sizeable segment of community served by the Health Center. Possess one of the following credentials: CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA. or be prepared to obtain certification with 90 days if hired.
Experience: Experience in a clinical setting. Great computer and typing skills are a must; Familiarity working with EMR helpful, Familiarity with tele-medicine a plus
Language Skills: Bilingual: Spanish-English or English/Creole helpful ; Demonstrate the ability to effectively interpret medical terminology as assed by successful completion of language proficiency assessment
Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills
Reasoning Ability: Secures guidance and support from the licensed nursing staff or primary care providers regarding the delivery of patient care. Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
Licensure / Certification: Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or in process of acquiring Certification, a plus. CPR certification required upon hire and recertification bi-annually
