Very busy Orthopaedic/Podiatry clinic looking for a Medical Assistant/Surgery Scheduler. Individual must be positive, energetic, and someone who can work independently as well as part of a team. Candidate must be able to multitask, be dependable, be very detailed oriented, and have great communication skills. Position is fast-paced and some days requires 6 or more hours of sitting in a day and when coverage in clinic is required there would be 6 or more hours of standing/walking while carrying a tablet. Position is Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30am-5:30pm most days with satellite clinics being extended hours. Travel required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Coordinates with multiple surgical facilities, hardware reps, physicians, and patients to schedule procedures as directed by physician.

2. Orders necessary diagnostic and lab tests in preparation for patient procedures. Communicates findings to ordering physician. Communicates with patients regarding any contraindications related to procedures.

3. Serve as a point of contact for assigned physician and physician assistant for patient care.

4. Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned that may include checking schedules and organizing patient flow; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/physician assistant with various tasks; charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information.

5. Fulfills clinical responsibilities assigned that may including sending/receiving patient information; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/referrals as needed; and scheduling appointments.

6. Fulfills environmental responsibilities assigned that may include setting up injections according to protocol or other necessary responsibilities to assist with delivery of patient care.

7. Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned including respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to patient needs.

8. Responsible for preparation and coordination of outside/satellite clinic as assigned by physician.

9. Maintain up-to-date and current knowledge of applicable healthcare regulations and laws.

10. Maintain current knowledge of general coding practices and applicable protocols.

11. Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner.

12. Communicates pertinent information to physicians, patients, supervisor or other departmental employees as needed.

13. Ensures compliance with HIPAA, patient privacy and all other applicable regulations and laws while interacting with patients and staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $19.50 per hour
