Baystate Health, Western Massachusetts’s premier healthcare provider, and home to Baystate Medical Practices, the largest multispecialty group in the region, is looking for individuals interested in becoming Medical Assistants. Baystate Health is partnering with Holyoke Community College (HCC) to train and employee individuals to participate in a Medical Assistant Certification Program.
For this program, we will be hiring individuals as Medical Assistant Trainees to complete the Medical Assistant courses through HCC, complete an externship at a Baystate Health facility, and obtain their Medical Assistant registration/certification.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Baystate Health Medical Assistants perform an important role in providing care to our patients. They take vital signs, perform patient intake and history, clinical orders, procedures, documentation and patient discharge. Our supportive work environment allows you to provide optimal patient care.
EXPECTATIONS: As a Medical Assistant Trainee in this program, participants will be expected to work on the educational requirements for full-time hours (40 hours a week). Once completed, participants will complete an externship at a Baystate Health facility for 40 hours a week for four weeks. Once your Medical Assistant registration/certification is passed and obtained, participants will graduate the program and fulfill their role as a Medical Assistant I in a Baystate Health practice.
During the program time frame, you will be a Baystate Health employee, you will receive a training wage and full-time employee benefits. Once you obtain your registration/certification you will advance up the career ladder and receive a pay increase.
SCHEDULE: Full time: Monday thru Friday.

Basic Life Support – American Heart Association, Credentialing must be awarded by a third-party credentialing body which can be obtained through: 1. Registered through Medical Assistant (ARMA) – (Minimum Requirement); 2. Registered through American Medical Technologist (AMT) association; or 3. Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association (NHA); or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or 4. Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). – Credentialing must be awarded by a third-party credentialing body which can be obtained through: 1. Registered through Medical Assistant (ARMA) – (Minimum Requirement); 2. Registered through American Medical Technologist (AMT) association; or 3.
