Job Title: Medical Review Officer (MRO) Assistant - Remote Local to Philadelphia, PAReports to: MRO – A Supervisor
Department: MRO
Location: University Services - Philadelphia
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
This position provides support essential to the MRO division through completing administrative review of drug testing results and processes. It requires strong familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, specimen collection procedures, chain of custody documentation, and reporting processes. The position also plays a critical role fostering a culture that strives to provide excellence in service to clients through maintaining strict confidentiality as well as prompt responsiveness and helpful, courteous interactions.
Job Duties:
- Collect data and organize information pertinent to final determination of test results.
- Organize and check cases for correctness and release positive donor test results for MRO’s review.
- Review cases verified by the MRO, check cases for completeness and post and release final result determination to the client verbally (phone) and electronically (computer, email, fax).
- Communicate, implement, and interpret customer drug and alcohol testing policies and procedures.
- Advise clients on federal drug testing regulations as applicable to ensure employer compliance.
- Contact client and/or testing site to send in required document for review by MRO.
- Assist in interpreting downloads, contacting labs regarding questionable tests. Troubleshoot incorrect or incomplete specimen collections, contact labs to clarify unusual results.
- Order splits and special tests upon request.
- Provide and facilitate donor’s medical information to MRO’s as needed.
- Assist in corroboration of medical explanations presented by donor as needed.
- Clearly document cases and maintain records in computer system
- Remain familiar with “Medical Procedures”, drug testing regulations and processes, and drug classes/metabolites.

Requirements:
- Intermediate level in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills and strict attention to detail
- Exceptional interpersonal, phone and communication skills
- Medical Review Officer Assistant Certification (preferred)
- Previous customer service experience (preferred)
- Experience in drug/alcohol testing industry (preferred)
- High school diploma and some college or medical training and/or industry experience
- A minimum of 3 years of customer service experience
- Associates or Bachelors degree or Medical training certification
