Detailed Description:

Job Duties:

  • Supervise patients and patient living areas conscientiously with emphasis on patient safety and well-being. Supervision to include the following:
    • Call Nursing Staff when patients are in need of medical attention.
    • Remind patients of rules and regulations as necessary and report infractions to clinical staff.
    • Check patients and grounds throughout the entire shift, and follow documentation requirements.
    • Inform medical/administrative/therapy staff of developments as appropriate
  • Supervise patient preparations for discharge (packing, turning in keys, room inspection, etc.) in a competent, professional manner.
  • Assists in assuring daily program activities and monitoring client safety: transports patients, coordinates group activities, and supervises all recreational activities.
  • Communicates all pertinent care information to the Team Leader, Supervisor/Operations Director and/or Clinical Program Director.
  • Document in daily reports and patient meal logs, all information, interactions, communications, behaviors and interventions in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in and monitor daily meals and snacks with clients, including preparation on said meals. Facilitates Meal Pre-Planning and Meal Process Groups.
  • Help with coverage of vacations, sick time, etc.
  • Will possess both a clean driving record, as well as a clean background check.
  • Monitor patient safety (including eating disordered behaviors) during program day and intervenes with recovery-focused directives.
  • Monitor bathroom activities and break times during the day.
  • Record patient behavior, problems, and issues in a timely, legible, and helpful manner.
  • Interact appropriately with patients, showing them respect while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Communicate with other staff as necessary to promote quality patient care.
  • Provide emotional support for patients while referring them to therapy staff to deal with clinical issues.
  • Maintains the offices, residences, equipment and services of the facility, in a manner that preserves the dignity and provides for the comfort and safety of all individuals admitted for treatment as well as staff and visitors
  • Communicates general environmental observations and issues to appropriate Director or Supervisor.
  • Oversees purchases of patient supplies and storage, as needed and instructed.
  • Maintains a good public relation with the addictions treatment community and associates.
  • Communicates effectively with other staff members, demonstrating the ability to work as a team member and contribute positively to the morale of staff.
  • Safely transports clients in company vehicles.
  • Reports all motor vehicle incidents to supervisor no matter how slight.
  • Accurately Perform blood pressure reading on patient and report findings to nursing staff
  • Accurately Take patient pulse and report findings to nursing staff
  • Have an understanding of normal as well as abnormal vital signs
  • Complete UDS on patient according to company policy
  • Test for pregnancy according to company policy.
  • Supervise the self-administration of medication to verify compliance with the physician’s orders, as necessary.
  • Demonstrates an ability to work with Eating Disorder clients.
  • Demonstrates an ability to bond with patients and elicit respect.
  • Demonstrates an ability to adapt to different types of patients.
  • Any and all overtime or unscheduled hours must be approved by Supervisor prior to working additional hours
  • Staff shirts must be worn at all times with solid color cargo shorts or pants.

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Associates Degree, MHT Certification, CNA License; preferred.
  • Valid Driver License.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the field of eating disorders and/or psychiatric setting and has demonstrated ability to work with patients in a residential environment; preferred.
  • Maintains CPR certification, required.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.
