KRCR is looking for an outgoing, dynamic meteorologist to join its team in Redding, California! In addition to being an outstanding weather storyteller, you need to be a great journalist and engaging content creator. In this role, you'll handle weather duties for the #1 weekday morning news in Northern California. Our weather team participates in the planning of our shows and produces content regularly. A competitive passion to win and openness to innovation is mandatory! Our winning candidate will be someone who embraces social media and knows how to consistently engage with the audience. Collaboration is a big part of this role!

The main day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include…

• Forecasting, Producing and Presenting clear and concise weathercasts, which tell a story and connect with viewers
• Issuing warnings and alerts, producing original graphics and maps, and reporting live during weather events
• Utilizing social media during severe weather, as well as writing daily weather stories
• Working with producers and newsroom leaders to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations

What skills do you need to be successful in this role?

• Passion for weather year-round
• In-depth knowledge of forecasting
• Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Experience in weather presentation and reporting is preferred

The base salary compensation range for this role is $48,000 to $58,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates' relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
