Organization: The Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) is a collaborative network between high schools, organizations, and communities statewide. The mission is to increase postsecondary readiness, enrollment, and attainment so all students throughout the State. MCAN aligned its primary goal to support Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s statewide postsecondary education goal: 60 percent of Michigan residents complete a postsecondary certificate or degree by the year 2030.

Job Summary: MCAN in partnership with the Michigan Community Service Commission seeks to find two mission-driven individuals who would serve as Youth Outreach Program Coordinators that plan and develop academic, college enrollment, and retention support activities for economically disadvantaged K-12 students to create a college-going culture and promote college access. Coordinators will also be responsible for tracking and maintaining program statistics, reporting, and collaboration work within a large network of education, government, and community partners.

This is an AmeriCorps national service opportunity. AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) is seeking new members age 18 or older to join in the national war combating poverty in America.

Qualifications:

· Communicate effectively both oral and written; research, develop, present, and promote the program

· Strong organizational and project management skills, detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.

· Experience in promoting or developing youth programs is a plus.

· Ability to work well within a team environment.

·Benefits:

· Living Stipend: VISTAs receive a bi-weekly living stipend of about $675.20, for a total stipend of $16,204.80 paid over one-year.

· Education Award: Upon successful completion of the entire term, members earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of about $6,895 that can be used towards eligible post-secondary education expenses, or a cash stipend of about $1,800.

· Student Loan Relief: VISTAs may be eligible for student loan relief programs during their term of service based on their individual circumstances. This may include deferment, forbearance, loan forgiveness, and/or interest payments.
