Responsibilities
Responsible for ensuring campus IT infrastructure is designed and installed according to university standards. Responsible for the programming, planning, and management of projects assigned. Assists in the day to day management of work load for the Infrastructure/CASS group of NCT.
Responsible for designing, recommending, and overseeing complex projects as they relate to the University's communications infrastructure. Responsible for reviewing, planning, estimating, evaluating, and coordinating infrastructure installations, including communications systems, VoIP, data networks, cabling system pathway, fiber optic backbone, security access and control, video surveillance, and other critical infrastructure.
Provides engineering support to ITS Network Deployment in the installation, maintenance, repairing, servicing, modifying, and troubleshooting of a variety of complex University telecommunications, data networking, CATV and other critical infrastructure. Develops and recommends policies and guidelines for the day to day operation and management of these installations.
Represents ITS in meetings along with design professionals for planning and construction/renovation of campus facilities. Reviews construction documents and ensures that IT infrastructure design adheres to University standards. Performs site inspections and coordinates with construction management team during all phases of construction.
Advises the Assistant Director on the ongoing policies and standards to ensure that current policies remain up-to-date and relevant in a dynamic network environment. Provides technical advice to ITS management regarding complex network infrastructure related projects or issues.
Other duties as required. A State vehicle, golf cart, or utility vehicle will be used to reach site premises. A valid driver's license will be needed in order to operate vehicle.
Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience (Note: or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Ability to convey technical information to technical and non- technical users.
Ability to document existing and new processes.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to perform on-site design services and field engineering work.
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Ability to utilize blueprints and specifications.
A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
Other Information
This position will not be eligible for a primary remote schedule.
