Job description
- Work with a team of network engineers that manage and maintain a converged Gigabit Ethernet network infrastructure in support of 66 ABG/SC and their customers under Core Services
- Install, configure and troubleshoot network infrastructure w/ minimal supervision, work with short timelines using latest networking technologies and provide excellent customer support for all network related services
- Work on daily tasks and on-going upgrade projects to include operational support for switches, IP address management, network management tools etc.
- Provide support for classified and unclassified networks.
- Assists in securing network systems to meet applicable DoD, AF and DISA compliance
- Participate in sustainment activities of the enterprise infrastructure to include SLM (Software License management), monthly PMI (Preventive Maintenance Inspection), Communications Closet support
- Interface with vendors for warranty claims, hardware/software upgrades and other technology updates
- Required to diagnose data troubles, open & route trouble tickets and handle customer support cases with third party subject matter experts to ensure proper and timely resolutions
- Be disciplined in approach to operational excellence and execute detailed record keeping for adherence to locally established and required military processes and procedures services which ensure compliance with applicable directives, publications, and/or guidelines as governed by external DoD agencies
- Required to research technical issues and generate solutions using strong attention to detail
- Support emergency operations on an as needed basis 24/7 & respond to all operational needs according to contract parameters and weekend work maybe required as project or issues warrant
- High School Diploma, plus 3 years of experience in a Network technician role.
- Working knowledge of DHCP, NMS – Solarwinds Orion NPM/NCM, Cisco ISE, Wireshark required
- Flexibility with hours – required
- Strong working knowledge and excellent troubleshooting skills of Layer 3 & Layer 2 protocols in a VoIP environment is a must
- Strong network debugging and troubleshooting skills required
- Working knowledge of IP address Management/DHCP/Syslog/DNS is required
- Strong network debugging and network troubleshooting skills required
- Knowledge of W2K16/W2K19/IIS is an added plus
- Good understanding of cabling (Fiber/CAT5E/CAT6 etc.)
- Proficient with network hardware and related software
- Hands-on experience in configuration/installation of Cisco switches a must and encryption devices (Taclanes etc.) preferred
- Secret level DoD security clearance - required (ability to get clearance with waiver possible if background check shows potential)
- CompTIA Security + certification - required (valid certification on day one of employment)
