JOB SUMMARY
The Operator responds to and transfers calls accurately and promptly to appropriate locations; assists with the placement of out-going and interdepartmental calls; contacts staff and physicians via pager, telephone and/or overhead paging system. The operator responds to clinical, environmental and other system alarms then activates emergency codes and procedures in the prescribed manner. Accurately enters work orders for telecommunication devices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Other duties may be assigned.

• Answers incoming calls on the switchboard in a quality manner and uses approved scripts.
• Connects and transfers calls accurately to the appropriate locations.
• Escalates telecommunication and system outages to appropriate third party vendors.
• Responds to clinical, environmental and system alarms to activate emergency codes and procedures in the prescribed manner.
• Responds to telephone calls, telecom tickets and alarms rapidly and accurately.
• Is familiar with the On Call schedule for hospital administration, departments, and the physicians to accurately make changes.
• Knowledgeable with the ARC and Patient Locator system.
• Utilizes software for answering calls (Finesse).
• Routinely adjusts to changing shift schedules.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of High School or GED required.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience in a related field preferred.
• Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
