GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction and supervision of the Physician, performs basic supportive functions. Sets up equipment, assists in the positioning of patients. Operates fluoroscopy unit and other surgical equipment in compliance with radiology procedures. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objective, quality assurance program, safety, environment.
• Maintains effective, professional and appropriate communication during communication.
• Assists surgical team to prepare for surgical procedures as directed by the Circulating RN/Supervisor/Physician.Gathers anticipated equipment needed.

Assists with patient positioning.
Obtains Radiolographic studies for procedures and assists with distribution as needed
Delivers equipment as appropriate for special procedures and assists surgeon in equipment application as needed.
Prepares special equipment, tables, positioning equipment and tourniquets.
Obtains instruments and supplies for cases, assist in room set-up and opening of sterile supplies.
Obtains beds as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
• Satisfactory completion of on-the-job training for C-arm operation and anatomy.
• A minimum of 1-2 years-previous experience in patient care environment preferred. Previous experience in equipment repair is preferred.
• Verbal and interpersonal communication skills required to interact with other members of health care team.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• BCLS required.
• Certification as a Radiology Technician desired.
