Job Description:
Performs complex paralegal work and provides legal assistance to the Office of Legal Counsel. Responsible for matters related to the University's litigation team including assisting with discovery, scheduling, file organization, document management and potentially light research and writing under the supervision of the attorneys. Assists the attorneys with typing/word processing and other clerical tasks as assigned. Assists in the preparation of pleadings, briefs, exhibits and correspondence. Works closely with attorneys in the preparation of legal documents for filing. Coordinates and works with staff for document production. Works cooperatively with other staff and departments of the University to gather, organize and assemble documents related to cases handled in-house and by outside counsel. Proofreads and edits documents prepared by the attorneys before filing with the court or sending to third parties. Maintains and organizes case files, ensuring all documents are kept in the proper place and that all documents are appropriately labeled and organized. Responsible for e-filing in Federal courts and preparing documents for filing in state courts. Assists in scheduling, calendar management and other organizational duties as needed by the attorneys. Manages the University's e-discovery system including managing document storage, assisting in documents searches, and communicating with vendors and IT regarding e-discovery matters. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfil the function of the position. Will be responsible for all matters assigned by, and under the supervision of the attorneys.

Job Requirements:
Required Education:
- Associates degree or equivalent professional certification in paralegal studies, AND:
- 24 months experience in a law office or similar setting.
Skills:
- Advanced knowledge in the Microsoft Office Suite including the use of Word, Outlook and Excel
- Working knowledge of court rules regarding document preparation and presentation
- Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
- Experience with e-discovery, preferably a Relativity based platform
- Knowledge of general management principles and practices
- Ability to work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Experience with document management software
- Detail oriented
- Knowledge of the Blue Book form of Legal Citation and/or familiarity with Blue Book and its use
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work cooperatively with other units and departments of the University as well as with other law offices
