Department Information
Parking Operations oversees the issuance of parking permits, enforcement of parking regulations and maintenance, and funding of all or new campus parking lots and garages. Parking interacts daily with students, faculty and staff, departments, vendors, visitors, and the community as they conduct activity on the IU Bloomington campus. Job Summary
The Office of Parking Operations maintains all aspects of parking activities on the IU Bloomington campus including permit issuance, garage operations and maintenance of all parking lots, structures, and equipment. Additionally, the Bloomington campus serves as the fulfillment hub for all IU Regional campus online permit orders.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Provides general office support to the operations staff of the department, performing a variety of computer related tasks.
- Serves as a reliable source of information for Parking Operations customer base through fielding phone calls and responding to emails.
- Assists with all efforts related to parking permit online order fulfillment for 8 IU campuses.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
- 1 year of office experience.
SKILLS
Required
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information, with a professional customer service orientation and demonstrated ability to work well with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Team-oriented with the ability to recognize when tasks need to be completed, taking initiative to assist where and when needed.
- Ability to perform multiple/concurrent tasks requiring a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with access to critical university data.
- Operating knowledge of standard office equipment.
- Experience with Customer Relations Management tool.
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Work Location
Bloomington, Indiana
Work Hours
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with an average of 20-29 hours per week.
This is a temporary position that is expected to end approximately September 30, 2023.
