Essential Functions and Duties:
We are looking for a champion mentor who is collaborative and open to learn new methodologies and adapt to better approaches in team building. This is a lead role overseeing staff in levels II, I, aides, and clerks. We are seeking a leader with the following abilities:
- Supports, trains, and instructs staff and participants in a variety of activities.
- Develops the team’s academic skills.
- Advocate for the participants in alignment with Future’s mission and vision.
- Manage budgeting and money for the program.
- Promote community integration, computer training, cultural events, education, health and safety preparation and independent living skills.
- Expands on internships, job skills, mobility, outdoor experiences, personal care training, travel training, vocational training, volunteer jobs.
- Willing to do other designated skills.
Special Qualifications:
As a representative of Futures, you are expected to act as an advocate to promote and protect the rights of participants, ensuring that individuals are treated with dignity and respect and supports participants in advocacy and self-advocacy actions. You are expected to:
- Be effective in supervising and training your staff.
- Be a positive role model not only to the participants but to your team members as well.
- Take ownership in their engagement with the clients and adhering to Futures’ protocols in their job as well as yours.
- Provide them access to training to improve their job skills and guidance whenever needed.
- Be their mentor, encourage them to grow in their role and always be supportive of their profession and career advancement.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Authorized to work in U.S.
- Four (4) years or more related work experience, preferably with a human service agency or educational organization working with persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Possess a valid CA driver’s license, insurable driving record, and evidence of auto insurance and the ability to drive a company vehicle.
- Ability to handle many tasks simultaneously, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Open to work in the evenings and weekends for participant support, meetings, and community events – if needed.
- Knowledgeable of computers and software use, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and G Suite Workplace.
- Live Scan criminal record clearance (or exemption).
- Health Screening and TB Test clearance. Not more than 1 year prior to employment or within 7 days after employment.
- Physical stamina and ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively.
- Covid Safety Protocols: Aligned with CDC protocols, Futures-Explored requires all employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. In the event of a legal exemption or religious beliefs from vaccination, a reasonable accommodation will be considered.
Great if you have:
- Knowledgeable of Lanterman Act regulations, Regional Center guidelines, and State of California Licensing regulations.
- Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED by a qualified instructor.
