POSITION SUMMARY

This position is the first point of contact for the Veterans’ Resource Center and will provide excellent customer service to all students, as well as all internal and external customers. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with customers in all forms of communication are vital. The position provides administrative and clerical support to Veterans team.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • As the first point of contact for the Veterans Resource Center, perform a high-level of customer services to all visitors of the Veterans’ Resource Center for students, community service representatives and college staff. Greet internal and external customers, determine purpose of the visit, and provide appropriate service or referral.
  • Provide overall administrative support to the Veterans Resource Center team and Student Support Services team, as requested. Carries out administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, scheduling appointments, process supply orders, research new items, maintain inventory and provide upkeep of the Veterans Resource Center kitchenette, to include stocking, and overall general cleaning.
  • Ability to communicate with students regarding the status of their VA education benefits and assist with completing necessary paperwork.
  • Enter and maintain accurate student data into PeopleSoft and other database and reporting systems. Ability to pull data from reporting systems to compile statistical data for use in reports regarding student contact. Maintain all confidential departmental files.
  • Assist with all Veterans events.
  • Maintain the internet/internet pages, as well as all social media accounts to ensure they are updated regularly with accurate information and schedule of events.
  • Update the Veterans Resource Center with up-to-date marketing materials, to include updating the TV monitor outside of the Veterans’ Resource Center with upcoming events. Assist with the submission of all marketing materials.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Associate Degree - Administrative Assistant or related degree preferred.

Experience: 2 years of related experience. Professional work experience with veterans, which demonstrates an understanding of and sensitivity to their unique experiences is preferred. Veterans may receive priority.
