We are eye physicians and surgeons in Louisville, Kentucky, and Southern Indiana. In practice since 1984, we have performed over 15,000 laser vision correction procedures and over 100,000 cataract extractions and other surgical procedures. Our eye doctors have a combined experience level exceeding 120 years, including over 80 combined years of eye surgery experience. We also play a significant role in developing new medications and treatments through our clinical trials division, Butchertown Clinical Trials.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous medical practice experience preferred
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred
  • Previous experience in a busy, customer service-focused position preferred
  • Knowledge of computer operations, including the use of email and web browsers required
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Responsible for patient check-in, greeting everyone pleasantly and professionally when they walk through the door
  • Tracking patients through the reception areas and communicating with them as needed
  • Evaluating demographic data to verify all information has been received, completed, and signatures obtained
  • Demonstrating health and routine vision insurance benefits
  • Ensuring proper authorization or referrals have been collected from patients
  • Assisting patients in obtaining approval or referrals that the practice has not received
  • Entering and updating demographic information accurately into the computer
  • Comfortably ask patients for co-pays, deductibles, and past-due account balances
  • Scanning insurance cards and other documents
  • Learn and use basic medical terminologyBelieve our principle that the patient is usually correct
  • Respond to challenges, requests, and problems with a patient-centric attitude
  • Assist patients as they check out by scheduling the following appointments, completing routing sheets, accepting payment, etc.
  • Place telephone calls to new patients to confirm upcoming appointments and verify the information required of the patient at the time of work.
  • Place telephone calls on missed appointments, rescheduling as needed
  • Provide backup support on telephones
  • Inspect waiting areas for neatness and maintain individual desk space
  • Maintain proper opening and closing procedures
  • Balance cash drawer daily
  • Assist coworkers as needed
  • Confidentiality of practice management data and patient HIPAA-protected information is essential.
  • Perform other duties as required
