Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
The Manager of Peer Consultants is a professional staff member that leads the PeerConsultant Program within the Student Success Center. Peer Consultants are trainedundergraduate peer leaders who (1) facilitate Success Consultations and MoneyManagement Consultations, which promote academic/financial decision making and skilldevelopment and (2) contribute to student outreach through the Student Success CallCenter to promote student learning, retention, and degree completion. The Manager ofPeer Consultants acts as the primary point of contact for the Student Success CallCenter and Gamecock School Supplies initiative.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or Counseling and 1 yr relevant work experience coordinating and assessing student or academic programs in a higher education setting is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
The position requires strong critical thinking and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently while developing strong collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, and student affairs and academic affairs units. The individual must be able to exercise excellent professional judgment and discretion, making decisions on a regular basis that impact student welfare and the institution.
