Primary Responsibilities

2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday, 4:00 pm - 2:00 am ** $1.00 shift differential **

Responsible for converting Tinplate and Wire-mesh materials into finished and semi-finished products via various slitting, cutting, and punching techniques.

Key Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Process Tinplate and Wire-mesh material into finished and semi-finished products via various slitting, cutting, and punching techniques, including:

    • Accurately reading work order instructions and performing all operations as required.
    • Proficiently operating punch presses, recording hourly production rates, and tracking materials and hourly production on boards.
    • Following priorities and sequences to meet Tinplate Filter customer requirements.
    • Accurately and proficiently completing all quality checks and immediately notifying the Team Leader of any out-of-tolerance readings.
    • Notifying the Team Leader immediately of any barriers to meeting production requirements.
  • Continuously maintaining a clean work area, including machines and floors.

  • Performing basic Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks as assigned.

  • Identifying areas for process improvement, cost reduction, and waste reduction.

Requirements

Education/Experience

One (1) year of manufacturing/machine operation experience or training preferred.

Core People Skills:

Ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organization and apply common sense to various situations.

Communication Skills:

Ability to speak clearly and persuasively, listen, obtain clarification, and respond well to questions.

Computer/Applications Skills:

Competent computer skills using various software applications systems to access material, record labor hours, and access ADP Employee Self Service. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.

Performance Management:

Ability to understand and perform basic mechanical skills and meet hourly production requirements.

Manufacturing Skills:

Ability to read and understand basic drawings and perform mathematical calculations using a calculator.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

While performing the functions of this position, the team member is continuously required to talk or hear. They are regularly required to stand, walk, use stairs, bend and reach, use hands and fingers, and handle or feel. They frequently lift material weighing up to 30 pounds and occasionally team lift, maneuver/handle material weighing up to 100 pounds. They communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person, and in writing and use a personal computer, basic calculator, and telephone. Specific vision abilities require both up-close and distant sight abilities.

Working Environment

The team member generally works solely within a manufacturing environment where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. They are regularly exposed to noise (hearing protection is required), heat, and cold environmental conditions.
