GENERAL FUNCTION
The Sr Buyer, Purchasing is responsible for transactional Procurement support in the assigned commodity area. Provides transactional Procurement support for purchases and planned spending across EssilorLuxottica North America. Ensures attainment of objectives in quality, delivery, service and cost for products and services through the execution of commodity/category strategies.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for an assigned category or commodity requiring application of basic purchasing principles, theories and concepts
- Lead purchasing projects and assignments within major spend areas
- Lead supplier performance evaluations and corrective action initiatives.
- Lead and / or participate in cross-functional teams related to assigned commodities.
- Lead projects related to improvement of department processes and / or systems.
- Generates cost savings and/or sourcing process improvements
- Monitor and track quarterly goals and objectives
- Obtains high-quality low-cost services through competitive bidding and negotiations
- Communicates with internal stakeholders written recommendations
- Manages Requests for Proposals (RFP) Requests for Information (RFI) or Quote (RFQ)
- Generates recommendations based on Total Cost of Ownership comparisons
- Create strategies for new and alternate suppliers as required by projects and commodities.
- Ensure timely acquisitions of product or service requirements from known sources of supply
- Monitors and reports on activities associated within assigned commodity/category
- Obtain and analyze quotes to determine best value, then recommends national/global sourcing solutions based on data and facts collected
- Analyze least total cost analysis techniques and other standard purchasing tools in supplier selection
- Collaborate with internal clients and/or end users to develop product/service requirements and performance factors
- Identify opportunities for national/global leverage of volumes and purchasing power, as needed
- Negotiate and manage suppliers, Legal and internal management to develop agreements in accordance with Luxottica’s contract review and signature authority policy
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years relevant business experience
- 3+ years experience in Buying
- Standard purchasing practice and procedures
- Contractual relationships

- Strong problem solving and creative thinking
- Effective communication written and oral
- Negotiation
- Analytical – ability to perform complex financial and data analysis (P&L & KPI's)
