If you are a PRODUCT or ELECTRICAL ENGINEER looking for an opportunity to grow, Vilter has an opening for you! Based in our CUDAHY, WISCONSIN location, the Product Engineer - Electrical, will work under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Manager and will be responsible for control panels and electrical component selection used on Vilter's compressor units, refrigeration packages, and New Product Development in the CTO (Configured to Order) division. This includes the Vission and MicroVission microprocessor-based control panels, motors and starters, and other unit/package instrumentation. Responsibilities include design and calculations, creating and preparation of electrical drawings and documentation, testing, and occasional customer support.
AS A PRODUCT ENGINEER - ELECTRICAL, YOU WILL:
- Evaluate orders and select control panels, motors, starters, and other electrical components and instrumentation.
- Work with suppliers and other engineers to resolve technical and supply issues, improving system features and capabilities.
- Work with Supply Chain, obtain quotes, and recommend qualified suppliers.
- Work cross-functionally with the ETO (Engineer to Order) Electrical team for support on more complex projects.
- Review and interpret relevant codes and standards (UL, NEC, NFPA, NEMA etc.) for system compliance.
- Consult with Sales to assure compliance with customer expectations and design requirements.
- Support integration of quotation tools with product configurator in the ERP system.
- Determine specifications, drawings, and wiring diagrams to enhance design, reduce costs, or increase production efficiency.
- Direct testing of equipment including panels, programs, microprocessor boards, and wiring to ensure compliance with quality and production standards.
- Support the design and implementation of new control platforms to improve functionality, quality, and manufacturing productivity, while improving cost.
- Serve as a technical resource to Production, Customer Service, and other departments to address and resolve questions and problems.
- Support the development of operating manuals and procedures.
- Present at training schools, trade shows, and customers to support sales.
- Visit job-sites to develop project insights.
- Participate on cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing challenges.

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience or an associate's degree with an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of electrical drawings and software (AutoCAD Electrical) as well as pertinent electrical codes (NEC, NFPA 70, UL 508A)
- Fluent in Office Suite applications
- Capable of learning and effectively using manufacturing ERP system
- Willingness to learn a broad range of products and applications
- Must be self-motivated, a team player, willing to learn from experienced staff, and capable of introducing positive changes
- Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided in this role.
- Capable of learning and effectively using drawing software
- Interest in PLC and other controls
- Familiar with selecting and sizing motors and motor starters
- Industry experience in Refrigeration, HVAC, Power, or Energy
- Electrical aptitude and hands-on experience with electrical components, panel wiring, controls, or other industrial equipment
- Ability to coordinate and work within diverse teams to implement changes and improvements with little guidance
