The Production Artist fully supports the Director of Creative Services in all creative initiatives from concept through final production. Provide creative and production assistance to Sales, Client Services, Marketing, and other IWCO Direct internal departments as needed. Other responsibilities include:

• Build/create layouts using InDesign following client branding guidelines and postal requirements.
• Ensure that production files meet pre-press and printing specifications including page size, bleeds, color palette, font usage, link usage, file formats, layers, and four-color and black plate changes.
• Make both design and copy edits throughout the creative production process with the direction of both the Creative Director and Designer.
• Create both physical and electronic samples to support presentation and client needs.
• Perform other (or other related) duties as applicable or assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

• Ability to produce or recreate illustrations, logos, and similar items in vector- or raster-based programs depending upon the needs of the project.
• Excellent customer service skills, in person, on the phone, and in writing.
• Ability to be flexible within the job to ensure the best processes/systems for smooth completion of all projects.
• Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines. Available to work occasional after-hours in order to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious, and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
• Ability to build, create, populate, maintain, and archive electronic page files for pre-press in an organized and accurate manner.
• Extensive knowledge of color separations (both spot-color and CMYK printing) and file building requirements for projects with four-color and/or black/spot color plate changes on press.
• Ability to work on a variety of project formats.
• Understanding of universal proofreading marks.

Education and Experience:

• Graphic Design degree or equivalent preferred.
• 1-3 years’ graphics experience in a printing or an agency environment.
• Proficient in Macintosh OSX, InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, FTP file transfer.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work consecutively 8 hours.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
