Program Manager, The Whole Child

Summary Statement: Under the general supervision of the Chief Clinical Officer, this position is responsible for overseeing the department functions of The Whole Child Program, a partnership between The Guidance Center (TGC) and MemorialCare. This includes, but is not limited to, supervising the efforts of direct reports, managing clinical and fiscal aspects of The Whole Child Program, and working directly with other program managers to provide and coordinate efforts in supporting the agency’s mission.
Qualifications:
Licensed Psychologist (PhD or PsyD) in the State of California
Degree from an APA-accredited institution of graduate training and completion of an APA-accredited doctoral internship program
At least two years of clinical supervision and five years of direct clinical experience treating patients with co-morbid mental health and medical diagnoses
Interdisciplinary experience working in community mental health and hospital environments
Excellent teaching and public communication skills
Excellent communication skills, high level of self-initiative, motivation, independent judgment and organizational abilities.
Experience in applied research and knowledge of outcome data
Ability to work effectively with and lead a team
Must be able to pass hospital required drug screening, physical exam, and show proof of immunization titers
Must have a history of at least five years of malpractice and liability insurance coverage in order to obtain hospital privileges
Experience dealing with Medi-Cal, Short-Doyle and other Department of Mental Health (DMH) programs as well as an awareness of DMH policies and practices preferred
Knowledgeable of, or possess ability to learn and adhere to prevailing governmental laws and regulations regarding the provision of mental health services, including employee/patient’s rights to confidentiality and limits thereof, including compliance with HIPAA, federal and state laws and the reporting of child abuse/neglect, and related regulations.
Knowledgeable of and acts in accordance with Ethical and Professional Standards established by appropriate professional organizations.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversees coordination of, case assignment, client/patient care, and policy development within The Whole Child program, Psychology Consultation Service at Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital (MCWH), outpatient specialty centers (Endocrine, Neurology, Pulmonary) and more broadly across MemorialCare locations.
2. Works collaboratively with a team of providers at MCWH (e.g., nurses, sub-specialists, social workers, care associates) to provide brief mental health assessment and evidence-based care – including co-treatment with other disciplines – for a youth population with chronic illness and co-morbid mental health concerns.
3. Provides direct patient care and interdisciplinary consultation as necessary
4. Conducts TheWhole Child team and case review meetings
5. Works collaboratively with Memorial Care system administrators regarding program development and quality improvement efforts
6. Provides clinical support and training to MemorialCare and TGC staff
7. Maintains and completes all clinical and administrative record keeping associated with delivery of services
8. Monitors and corrects TGC staff and trainee performance in order to meet agency and accrediting body standards
9. Interacts with the community at large and with specific allied agencies, other programs, and funding sources in a manner that facilitates and enhances the operation of TGC. In doing so, must understand the mission of the program and TGC.
10. Provides supervision to doctoral interns in APA accredited program, postdoctoral fellows, and practicum students as needed
11. Collaborates with the training director to oversee trainee/TGC staff recruitment and retention and co-lead psychology training committee meetings and functions
