We’re currently seeking a talented Project Manager. This is a key role at Over J and will help us by working closely with team members to ensure that all project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track. The Project Manager will be housed in the Engineering department, will report to the President and CEO and will work closely with Engineers, Instructional Designers, and Data Analysts. The Project Manager will be a full-time position and is expected to work on-site in Downtown Los Angeles. The position is open until filled, but we are hoping to have our new Project Manager in the saddle by the end of September.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Project Manager is a collaborative leadership role and will have a variety of duties. To be a successful Project Manager, you will need proven experience in project management and the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team of varying size. Responsibilities include:
- Monitor procurement, design, construction, and other related activities and facilitate, coordinate and manage the program with respect to timely performance in accordance with project schedule and the requirements of the program.
- Provide oversight of planning, design, engineering, and execution of all project deliverables across multiple simultaneous work streams in support of Portfolio and Project Management programs.
- Coordinate work effort between all dependent departments, groups, teams, and tasks.
- Manage design requests, drawing progress, environmental, jurisdictional, regulatory, and other support tasks to ensure timely execution of activities through solution acceptance by stakeholders.
- Execute planning, status, and ad-hoc meetings as required; supply meeting minutes and track and communicate risks and issues and execute mitigating steps as necessary.
- Develop uniform standards for all aspects of project delivery.
- Develop a detailed budget and tracking against Company financial systems, process & procedures, scope, and change management required by the program.
- Manage monthly cash flows, vendor, and internal spending, including internal labor.
- Update financial reporting and forecasts as prescribed by the Company and update near and long-term forecasts as necessary.
- Conducts operational effectiveness reviews.
- Monitor and coordinate the schedule, technical accuracy, efficiency, coordination, and constructability of the program and cost-effectiveness of all designs, drawings, reports, estimates, and other work as required.
- Coordinating with cross-discipline team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
- Meeting with project team members to identify and resolve issues.
- Submitting project deliverables and ensuring that they adhere to quality standards.
- Preparing status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information.
- Establishing effective project communication plans and ensuring their execution.
- Facilitating change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and budget.
- Coordinating the development of user manuals, training materials, and other documents as needed to enable successful implementation and turnover of the process or system to the clients.
- Identifying and developing new opportunities with clients.
- Obtaining client acceptance of project deliverables.
- Managing client satisfaction within the project transition period.
- Conducting post-project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- ERP project oversight.
SUPERPOWERS:
We are looking for a super star in the field of project management services. You will need the following skills, abilities, and qualifications:
- B.S. Degree in Engineering, Business Management or equivalent field required, equivalent experience with customer approval.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, MBA, Professional Engineer license or Graduate Business training is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 -15 years of demonstrated proven experience in project management.
- Project Engineer/Manager experience relation to pipeline and/or valve automation projects on transmission pipelines.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or other Program Management certifications, training, and/or demonstrated experience.
- Ability to lead project teams of various sizes and see them through to completion.
- Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies.
- Ability to manage deliverables at all levels of the business structure from entry-level to executive-level management.
- Experience as a construction project manager, IT project manager, or ERP project manager.
- Able to complete projects in a timely manner.
- Budget management experience.
- Exemplary analytical cost management/cost control expertise including financial modeling, utilization of costing tools; SAP, Excel, and GAACP.
- Regulated utility exposure.
- Proven aptitude and demonstrated experience in high volume, complex projects, and program management.
- The capability of exercising discretion and independent judgment in application of systems analysis techniques and procedures.
- Ability to manage deliverables at all levels of the organization, managing multiple simultaneous teams and deliverables.
