Job description
This is a highly responsible professional position providing project management leadership for Cayuse software implementation in the Office of Research, Scholarship, and Sponsored Programs. Using the knowledge and insight into campus needs gained through these efforts, this position will be responsible for establishing a project management and coordination service scalable with demand to serve as a flexible asset supporting UTHSC and UT Tyler’s externally funded research programs, both pre- and post-award. Work will be performed under the general guidance of the Director, ORSSP.
Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Manage day to day activities of the Cayuse Software implementation including, platform, proposals, sponsored programs, fund manager and effort modules.
- Provide leadership with directing and overseeing operations and services related to Cayuse software implementation.
- Lead a team of professions in completing projects by a set deadline to uphold business initiatives.
- Ensure long- and short-term plans are detailed, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
- Delegate tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them.
- Make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.
- Serve as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
- Perform quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected.

- Extensive knowledge of project management.
- Extensive knowledge of the methods, procedures, and techniques used in grant
preparation, coordination, management, and implementation at an academic institution.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with university
personnel, state and federal agencies, and private organizations.

- Ability to participate in the evaluation and analyses of existing approaches and procedures and to assist in devising new approaches.
- Experience working within Fastlane, Assist and grants.gov for basic proposal development.
- Advanced word processing and basic data management skills.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Three (3) years’ experience in project management leadership required.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
