Overview:
M Health Fairview has an immediate opening for a Psychometrist at the M Health Fairview Neurology Clinic Woodwinds Clinic location located in Woodbury, MN. Join M Health Fairview, the largest healthcare system in the state. The Woodwinds Neurology Clinic is a growing, interdisciplinary and collaborative clinic. The Neurology Clinic sees mainly adults, but also sees some pediatric patients. We do multiple procedures here, and our MA's have the opportunity to work hand in hand with our providers in a 1:1 ratio model. This allows for developing close relationships with both providers and patients. Our clinic has a mixture of physicians, as well as Advanced Practice Providers. Our clinic closes at 4:30pm daily, with no evenings, second or third shifts, weekends, or holidays. This provides an excellent work life balance!

This is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two week pay period), benefits-eligible opening.

Responsibilities/Job Description:
Summary:

Under general supervision, assists with the day to day operation of the department and provides direct patient care, which includes but is not limited to, accurately administering and scoring routine psychological and neuropsychological tests.

Expectations:
  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
  • Administer batteries of interactive psychological and neuropsychological tests to inpatients and outpatients (primarily), including individual intelligence tests and a number of other cognitive tests/batteries and self-report and other personality inventories, in an accurate and standardized fashion as directed by the neuropsychologist.
  • Observe, accurately record, and communicate with neuropsychologist regarding patient behavior during the evaluation, encourage patient cooperation, and effectively manage any difficult or problematic behaviors that may arise during the evaluation.
  • Accurately score battery of neuropsychological tests according to guidelines provided in test manuals or by the neuropsychologist in a timely manner, using appropriate normative data (determined by neuropsychologist), complete protocol forms and data summary sheets, and engaging in quality assurance projects under the direction of the neuropsychologist.
  • Engage in clerical tasks that are necessary to the day to day operation of the department/service including file creation and management/oversight (hard copies and electronically), regularly taking inventory and reordering materials as needed, managementand upkeep of test materials and protocols (maintaining test inventory), completion of forms and prior authorizations for testing as directed by neuropsychologist, and infection prevention (i.e., cleaning of surfaces, materials, etc.).
  • Assist neuropsychologist with training and teaching and providing feedback to students, trainees, or other psychometrists in the department regarding standardized test administration, scoring, departmental procedures, and other clerical duties that may be required.
  • Participate in improving organizational performance by recommending projects, tasks, procedures, or approaches for departmental consideration/implementation.
Qualifications:
Required
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field required

Preferred
Experience:
Neuropsychological/psychological testing preferred but not required.
Previous experience with psychological or neuropsychometric testing or training/employment as a psychometrist is preferred.
Previous experience working in a hospital setting or with hospital patients/families is also preferred but not required.

Other Skills We Desire:
Knowledge of third party payers, billing procedures and insurance.
Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
Excellent customer service, public relations and communication skills
Ability to prioritize and work with a fluctuation in workload while working independently
Ability to adapt to change and engage in ongoing process improvement
Flexibility to work at other sites is encouraged
