Fairview Health Services seeks to hire a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Operating Room team at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, West Bank Campus and Masonic Children's Hospital, located in Minneapolis, MN!

This is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Minnesota and in turn has students, residents, and fellows placed in this OR on a daily basis.

We are offering up to a $12k Sign-On Bonus for this position! It is determined on years of experience, is prorated based on FTE, and requires a 2 year commitment.

Schedule

This operating room (OR RN) nursing position will be working 64 hours every two weeks on the rotating day/evening/night shift, 8 hour shifts and rotating weekends. In house call and off premise call is required.

Responsibilities

The Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

• Demonstrates the ability to establish an environment of safety for the surgical patient
• Demonstrates the ability to assess, diagnose, implement and evaluate treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological stability of the surgical patient.
• May serve as a circulator or scrub during operative procedures. Demonstrates knowledge about the psychologic, sociologic, and spiritual responses of patients and their families to the operative or other invasive procedure.
• Supports patients’ rights and ethics by delivering consistent, competent, and ethical care, within legal standards of practice, while maintaining privacy and support of the patient’s value system
• Demonstrates knowledge of the health system environment and administrative issues that impact job performance, patient safety, and ethical considerations.

Qualifications

• MN RN license
• BLS
• Minimum of 1 year OR experience, or completion of an approved Periop 101 program, or 2 years' experience as a Surgical Technologist

Location Overview

The West Bank has 15 operating rooms, 1 EP Lab, 1 Cath Lab serving an average of 36 cases per day, 24/7. We provide state of the art surgical suites for adult and pediatric patients and are currently renovating additional OR's to complement the existing 4 larger OR's, as well as creating new locker room and OR storage space.

Surgical services are provided to patients in the following clinical specialties which get divided up into 5 teams;

• High Volume Ortho/Spine/Oral (mainly adults)
• Peds CV-Hearts/Cardio Thoracic
• Peds Neuro/Generals/Urology/Bariatrics
• Peds Transplant
• Adult Urology
• Benign GYN
• ENT/Eye/Plastics
• Peds Dental
• Robotic DaVinci
