We are looking for a Part-Time Research Assistant to join the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston, TX 77030. This position would support COVID- 19 education and outreach on projects that seek to increase vaccine uptake in Houston/ Harris County, Northeast Texas, and South Texas. In this position, you will work closely with the Communications Manager to develop and manage social media content promoting COVID-19 vaccinations. You will evaluate and interpret social media engagement and provide data to project investigators.

Position Summary:
The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible for a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant. Through a collaborative community-engaged approach, the grant seeks to increase COVID-19 vaccine uptake in priority communities in Houston/Harris County, Northeast Texas, and South Texas. Under the supervision of the Communications Manager, the GRA will assist with day to day project management and may provide scientific direction for research projects of considerable scope and complexity.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Under close supervision, develop and manage social media content promoting COVID-19 vaccination. Activities may include some or all of the following: scheduling content to 9 social media profiles across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram; updating social media resource tools Linkin.bio and Linktree; engaging with commenters and followers; growing social media following and developing engagement strategies; and developing social media ad campaigns.
- Collects, evaluates, and interprets social media engagement data to provide needed information to principal investigators and other researchers. Updates notebooks, records, and databases as needed.
- Stays abreast of new and updated COVID-19 protocols.
- As needed, may assist the organization and execution of COVID-19-related social marketing toolkits related to CHW outreach, education strategies and social media campaigns.
- As needed, may assist the organization and implementation of other communications interventions such as text messages, every door direct mail (EDDM), and social media influencers campaigns.
- Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
- General knowledge of research fields.
Preferred:
- Experience in marketing, communications, or social media
- Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred, but not necessary
- The ability to work with remote teammates and use cloud storage tools
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
- No years of experience.
Preferred:
- Experience in communications (can include advertising, marketing, journalism, etc.) is preferred
- Exeprience in social media, specifically Twitter, Facebook and Instagram is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
