Job Summary: Core responsibilities of this position include:
Conduct research on various life science projects that may include laboratory work and/or field work. Maintain and continue ongoing projects including but not limited to organism trapping and collection, curation, sample preparation, data entry, mentoring of research students.

Start Date: As soon as practical after offer is made.
Compensation: $15.03 per hour.
- Conducts all experiments and field observations using currently accepted techniques including safe use of research organisms, chemicals and equipment both in the lab and in the field.
Manages a variety of insect trap types including proper handling of specimens and specimen data. - Communicates the results of experiments both in writing and orally as appropriate to peers, supervisors, and the scientific community.
- Approved for driving LCCC vehicles to the LCCC land in Vedauwoo.
- Manage other students conducting various research projects throughout the summer.
- Knowledge of introductory levels of content in a natural science field (biology, chemistry, physics) including understanding of the scientific method and application to unexplored questions.
- Knowledge of introductory entomology including taxonomy and ecology (as it pertains to beetles).
- Ability to find and evaluate primary scientific literature to ascertain previous work and background on the projects.
- Ability to manage large amounts of environmental data.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and speaking.
- Ability to follow and develop (as necessary) procedures for lab and field activities.
- Should be able to hike 10 miles while carrying 20 lbs. on a weekly basis to collect trap samples.

Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience conducting novel research and project responsibility including collaborative activities as well as professional communication of the results.
- Previous involvement in LCCC research group.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with beetle trapping, collecting, identification, and curation.
