Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for a Research Associate in Berkeley, CA.
Duties: Support experiments using techniques of molecular biology, including extraction and manipulation of DNA, gel electrophoresis, PCR, and transformation of E. coli, Agrobacterium, yeast and plants. Support experiments for cell wall analysis, including extraction of cell wall material, chemical and enzymatic hydrolysis, and analysis by HPLC. Perform experiments involving characterization of enzymes involved in cell wall biosynthesis, including heterologous expression of enzymes, protein purification, and enzyme assays. Maintain well-documented laboratory notebook. Maintain plants, including planting and harvesting seeds. Genotype mutant and transgenic plants. Assist with training of new group members. Responsible for operation and maintenance of high-performance anion exchange chromatography (HPAEC) systems, including methods development and training of other group members in use. Data analysis and preparation of figures/tables for presentations and publications. Preparation of draft manuscripts for scientific publications.
Benefits: This full salary range of this position is between $51,979 to $76,648 per year depending upon candidates’ full skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, certifications, and years of experience.
Requirements: Master's Degree in Botany, Plant Pathology, Plant Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a Biology related field.
