INTRODUCTION TO ROLE

The Ropes Course / Zip Line Facilitator position ensures all guests' safety. In the Frontier Town Ropes Course and Zip Line, as well as the individuals observing. During non-ropes course/ zip line operational times, employees will assist with Frontier Town Water Park operations. Work is performed under the general supervision of Attractions Management.

As the Ropes Course/ Zip Line Facilitator, you are safety-minded and focused, with strong attention to detail. Work well under pressure and in high-stress situations. You will need to be alert and focused on tasks for long periods. You possess excellent communication skills.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

• Must be willing to work at heights of 15’ (4.6m) or more for extended periods.
• Ability to insert and remove self and guests into and out of the continuous belay track.
• Ability to understand and use a harness properly.
• Must be able to outfit all participants by choosing the correct size harness and make the needed adjustments to fit their body.
• Demonstrate a complete understanding of harness components.
• Knowledge and ability to inspect all safety equipment and understand when something is unsafe.
• Follow all participant rules and perform their duties without restrictions for the safety of all parties involved.
• Properly attach the belay to a participant’s harness, make correct adjustments in the length
  of the belay, and consistently inspect the continuous belay assembly for any damage or deformation.
• Monitor all participants on and off the course.
• Use competence to assess the difference between a medical emergency and a non-emergency incident for emergency take-down procedures.
• Monitor all participants in the course and immediately stop any unsafe behavior.
• Capability and understanding to assist frightened participants.
• Express appropriate behavior towards customers and guests.
• Outfit zip-line guests with a properly fitted harness and helmet, trolley, and all other gear
• Give clear instructions and explanations on the equipment's proper usage and function.
• Understand, follow, and enforce all safety rules.
• Double-check guest rigging for any errors before attaching them to the zip line.
• Follow proper procedure to attach guests to zip line
• Explain the zip line process to guests, demonstrate and explain proper form and technique, and answer questions
• Clear communication with the Landing Tower to ensure that the line is clear and the guides are ready
• Clear communication with the Launch Tower before the launch of any guest, ensuring that the line is clear of all obstacles and that the guides are ready to receive the guests
• “Catch” zip liners at the end of the cable (stopping a guest from going back out onto the line ONLY when it is safe to do so)
• When necessary, go out onto the line and perform retrievals (pulling in the guest by attaching a lanyard to both you and the guest and climbing hand-over-hand back to the tower with the guest in tow)
• Using the proper procedures to release a guest from their attachment to the line
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Regular attendance is required
