JOB DESCRIPTION
Your Role

The Data and Analytics technology platform administration team implements and supports management of the data management/data warehousing technology platforms that provide data processing, data integration (ELT/ETL/Virtualization/Streaming), master data management, reference data management, metadata management and analytics including self-service data. This provides excellent opportunities for growing your skills with the team. The Senior Tableau Administrator will report to the Manager of Data and Analytics Technology Platform Administration. In this role you will implement, configure, secure, operationalize and optimize the Tableau Platform (on premise or cloud).

Your Work

In this role, you will:

• Independently design, build and support one or two platforms by executing any complexity tasks ensuring functionality, accessibility and security of the platform
• Plan, schedule and perform patching and upgrade tasks of platforms
• Support analysis of audit trails to detect usage patterns of user activity and system capacity
• Monitor, analyze system performance and suggest configuration changes for optimal performance in any complexity scenarios
• Establish and maintain performance baselines, troubleshoot performance issues and provide recommendations/fixes for identified issues
• Defines policies, standards, best practice guidelines and user guides for usage of the platform
• Plan, communicate and implement Tableau server upgrades, maintenance and configuration changes
• Conduct content promotion, automate tasks when possible and manage licenses
• Diagnose functional and performance issues, support users in need and build effective relationships with users and other teams
• Learn continuously from industry and participates in cross training and other learning opportunities to learn from and coach peers in the team

QUALIFICATIONS
Your Knowledge and Experience

• Requires advanced knowledge of data tool administration, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience
• At least 5 years of Tableau-focused experience, with at least 3 years of leading experience in Tableau Administration
• Conceptual understanding and Implementation knowledge about IT Infrastructure, Security and Service Management
• Experience in Tableau installation, usage of Tableau tools for understanding logs and content promotion, ability to automate tasks with Python and shell scripting
• Experience in a customer-facing role, including comprehending business needs and solving complex problems
• Effective documentations skills and verbal/written communication skills
• Familiarity with these technologies (SAS, Business Objects, Power BI, Informatica, Alteryx, Azure, Ansible, Denodo, Splunk) or certification in Tableau development and administration is a plus
  

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 96800.00 to $ 145200.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
