DESCRIPTION
Seeking a Sr. Technical Writer to join our team at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM, which provides integral mission support to the NNSA. To learn more about LANL, please go to: https://nnsa.energy.gov/aboutus/ourlocations/los-alamos-national-laboratory.
This position is full-time and will serve the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM.
OVERVIEW
- Plans, writes, and edits technical and administrative communication products e.g., reports, brochures, websites, proposals, procedures, manuals, proceedings, and training materials for both print and online/electronic publication.
- Conducting communication needs assessments, interacting with customers to analyze and develop content, and advising customers on Laboratory publication policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, journalism, and technical communication and 12+ years of relevant experience.
- Ability to work independently on a variety of communication projects, working from very general instructions and taking initiative to ask questions and clarify expectations as necessary.
- Experience as mentor and/or coach to other writer-editors.
- Advanced skills to proactively problem solve to help meet customer needs.
- Ability to facilitate stakeholder and subject matter expert (SME) individuals, groups, or teams to extract knowledge gain collaborative consensus for procedure development or modification.
- Advanced process mapping and flowcharting skills.
- Advanced technical editing and writing skills.
- Experience developing procedures for contractors and organizations involved DOE Complex M&O work.
- Advanced knowledge, experience, and judgment required to suggest to management ways to resolve conflicts, solve problems, increase efficiency, and improve services and products.
- Expertise in juggling the demands of multiple work priorities and working effectively under pressure.
- Ability to deliver high-quality communication products to customers on time and within budget.
- To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
- Due to the nature of the work, a U.S. Citizenship is required.
