Job description

Purpose:

Assigns and provides work direction to employees in the Service Department, advises and recommends changes and improvements regarding Service Department processes to the Service Manager, and assists in the processing of repair and warranty work.

Responsibilities:

o Receives work order from the service manager, assigns the job & work areas to technicians according to their skills and knowledge.

o Assists with the inspection of machines to be worked on to ensure the customer’s complaint is valid.

o Contacts customers concerning repair time and cost, also reviews any other items that were found during the initial inspection. Keeps customer informed throughout the repair on any items needing attention.

o Visits with each technician at least 2 times per day to discuss the progress of their jobs.

o Reviews the completed job with the technician and performs final inspection of the machine and signs off that the job is completed.

o Reviews parts and labor charged to each job before handing the completed work order to the service clerk or service manager for closure.

o Helps technicians in the diagnosis and repair if they run into problems.

o Arranges for reconditioning of used equipment and setup of new equipment.

o Works with Service Manager in all aspects of the Service Department.

o Responsible for scheduling and conducting all in-house technician training.

o Promotes loyalty and customer goodwill and protects dealership image.

o Advises Service Manager of all customer complaints.

o Maintains a clean and safe working environment for all technicians.

o Meets with Service Manager on a regular basis to review department performance and personnel matters.

o Perform other duties and functions as directed by the Management team in line with the objectives of the dealership.

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

  • 5 years experience
  • Ability to speak effectively one-on-one and before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
  • Familiar with John Deere and Competitive products.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to write and work on routine reports and correspondence.
