Job description
Manages production of company products, utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of machines and equipment for operators. Responsible for ensuring and improving performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through effective methods and strategies. The incumbent will lead, coach and develop Production Leaders. Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage and support Production Leaders
- Drive safety management systems on manufacturing floor and participate in safety enhancement activities.
- Drive and support initiatives which demonstrate our ability to make product that conforms to customer specifications.
- Work to reduce delinquencies and improve on-time delivery.
- Work with management to establish and maintain budgets.
- Maintain working relationship with the Union by following the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Coordinate the daily activities of Operators, Material Handlers, Forklift Drivers, Sector Leaders, Facilitators, Manpower Coordinators, and Rework Coordinators in the ADF sectors.
- Meet the goals for safety, quality, delivery, lead time and cost. Measure these operational dimensions and initiate preventative and corrective actions to achieve the goals.
- Work cooperatively with Corporate Services (skilled trades, maintenance), ADF Technical and Production Setup, and Engineering functions to achieve operational goals.
- Based on sales and production forecasts, forecast manpower needs, proactively work with Human Resources to acquire the right number of people with the right skills and abilities, and develop and maintain the capabilities of the people needed.
- Develop and maintain a long-term outlook on production capacity needs and resources in partnership with Director, Operations.
- Alongside Director, will promote a positive results-oriented working environment and initiate and support activities / programs leading to growth and development of talent within the group.
- Mentor/develop key members of the team to strengthen their own potential for career development as well as Bemis’ broader succession planning platform.
- Oversight of rework operations and assigns resources as necessary.
- Responsible for the functionally related Operating Metrics.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor Degree or relevant experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong management skills
- 8+ years previous experience in Operations Management
- Data driven detail and problem solving skills
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with competing deadlines
- Acting with urgency
- Capable of mentoring, developing and coaching personnel
