The Medtronic Cardiac Rhythm Management group is looking for a Senior Software Product Owner to join our Software Operations Organization to in the defining of priorities for evolving our Shared Services platform as a product by balancing the inputs from internal and external stakeholders.
The Product Owner will work as the technical liaison between the platform team and the customers of the platform including software developers, operations teams, and other business customers. This role is ultimately responsible for defining the “What” and the “Why” for work direction at the team level to maximize value of the platform to the business and customers.

A Day in the Life
In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Senior Software Product Owner role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Supports 1 - 2 scrum teams focused on a common identity or capability
Responsible for building and grooming product backlog, including writing epics, features, and stories for shared understanding and execution
Writes and collects input for acceptance criteria at the user story level
Work in lockstep with software development teams, Scrum Masters, and delivery leaders to ensure priorities are clear, backlogs are executable, and messages to stakeholders are aligned
Partners closely with the following to evolve product: Architect, DevOps Engineers, Technical Component Owner, Technical Leads, Software Developers, Testers, Scrum Master, etc.
Active change agent within the Software Operations and Software Development organization, helping the team(s) and the broader organization assimilate to change
Syncs regularly with product owners from related capabilities and products to ensure cohesive customer experience across a product space
Partners with platform customers and development teams to ensure platform releases are communicated effectively to understand features and dependencies of the updates for successful use by the customer.
Product Advocate :
Accountable for a product’s impact on software developers, testers, customers, users, and Medtronic
Establishes and drives toward key performance indicators (KPIs) of the platform including SLOs, and SLAs.
Sources intake from the Architects, DevOps Engineers, Software Developers, Scrum Masters, Product Management, and other sources
Leads a shared understanding of” What” we should build and be able to justify “Why” through discussion and documentation
Extends shared understanding with the scrum teams who will be executing
Play a critical role in sprint demos by utilizing it as a feedback loop for validation of intended impact – should be asking most of the questions to people outside the team
Ensures all work is tested for quality, configured for observability, and documented for customer enablement from internal operations to the software development teams and enables the same at the customer levels
Makes the decision on when enough value has been created to release

- Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field required
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
Experience with Behavior-driven development (BDD)
