The Supply Chain Department is a 24/7 operation. They are tasked with ordering and delivering materials for the entire hospital.
Job Summary
In this role, as a part of the peri-operative materials management team, the Stock Clerk, Sr. performs inventories, data entry for supply requisitions, accept and verify supply/equipment deliveries, and distribute, organize, and maintain supplies for use in the general peri-operative areas. With these responsibilities, the Stock Clerk, Sr. acts as a resource for information pertinent to all supplies kept in the peri-operative areas of UChicago Medical Center
Essential functions/Responsibilities
- Performs a physical inventory of general and specialty surgical supplies, according to the schedule and guidelines established by the OR materials manager
- Demonstrates basic skills using Excel and Access Programs, performs overstock reviews and supports peri-operative materials management efforts to reduce, exchange and/or return unused or unneeded supplies to vendors Monitor Operating Room equipment looking for defective items requiring repair
- May repair specified equipment for shipment to appropriate vendor
- Performs data entry of supply/equipment orders into the automated materials management information system
- Accepts, uncrates/unpacks, receives, stores or re-shelves and distributes daily shipments of stock from outside vendors, general stores, internal sources or any procurement method used to obtain stock to the appropriate inventory locations
- Average daily shipment is four (4) to eight (8) pallets per day plus multiple deliveries of specialty supplies, implants and equipment
- Audits/verifies shipments for correct units received, matching all shipments with packing lists sent with shipment and/or purchase orders generated from the automated materials management information system and reporting any discrepancies to the peri-operative materials manager
- Accesses automated materials management information system to identify specialty item destinations, answer receiving questions and information on orders not received
- Communicate daily with materials management personnel regarding issues or outages
- Notify peri-operative materials manager of all discrepancies in items ordered and items received or "stocked-out " of general stores
- Monitor and maintain established par-level for supplies in the all peri-operative areas of the UCMC general operating rooms, report variance to the manager
- Recommends product purchases based on reorder points, min/max levels and par levels; recommends additional supply orders based on surgical activity or in response to clinical staff requests. Support staff members in accessing supplies, and inventory information.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with hospital/surgical supplies
- Proven ability to read and write at a high school graduate level and ability to perform simple mathematical calculations
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
- Basic user in Microsoft Excel and Access programs
- Ability to perform computer related tasks relating to data input in a menu-type materials management information system
- Operating Room, SPD and Supply chain experience strongly preferred
