Agua Caliente Elementary School (ACES) is seeking a STEAM Teacher effective school year 2023-2024. This is a full-time benefit eligible position.This is an exciting new opportunity at our elementary school to build a K-6 STEAM program! In collaboration with classroom teachers and the Tanque Verde Elementary School (TVES) STEAM teacher, you will help develop a vertically aligned STEAM education program that supports the AZ State Standards and current trends in STEAM education.
Our school has a fully equipped indoor science lab as over an acre of nature trail that includes a brand new outdoor science lab. Individual chromebooks, Ellison Robotics and Code-a-Pillars, and a garden space with a greenhouse will support the program for all students.
Preferences include:
Passion for science and STEAM integration
Understanding of current STEAM trends, Inquiry based and hands-on learning, and AZ Science Standards including the 3 dimensions of science - or willing to learn
Organized and able to collaborate and co-teach grades K-6 with classroom teachers
Primarily works with students, but should also feel comfortable providing PD to teachers and presenting at School Board meetings as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to create and maintain a climate of respect.
- Knowledge of a variety of teaching methods that are age appropriate for the learners.
- Ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of students.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of students and staff, and to protect records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties. Ability to discern when to use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
- Ability to maintain positive, cooperative and mutually supportive relationships with staff, parents, and site administration.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
- Skill in critical and creative thinking.
- Knowledge of computer applications and ability to learn new programs as needed.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
