Supervisor, Electric Joint-Use in our Electric System Integrity Department located in Lansing, MI.

The Electric Joint Use Supervisor is responsible for leading and performing customer communication, design, project management, and financial analysis associated with attachment requests to BWL facilities.
Essential Functions:
- Develop/update licensing agreement language for others that attach to BWL facilities, as necessary.
- Partners with the internal legal team to negotiate new and updated contracts.
- Oversee staff that administer the pole attachment licensing agreements.
- Oversee staff to manage joint use notification system processing and tracking.
- Oversite of design and approval of engineered drawings.
- Ensures standardization and quality control of engineered drawings, allocations, work orders, authorizations, estimates, service orders, and release packages.
- Create, manage, and track department annual budgets.
- Identify departmental training needs and industry offerings.
- Mentors design staff on correct BWL construction standards, engineering, and construction practices for all project related work.
- Review and provide support for attachment licensing rates.
- Reviews the implementation of new communications, and other, technologies and how this impacts BWL and related pole facilities.
- Coordinates the periodic statistical survey of pole attachments for each attachment entity.
- Keeps abreast of new laws and changing protocols related to state and federal communication laws and regulations.
- Manage, update, and oversee the pole attachment licensing dispute resolution process.
- Develop, manage, and measure department goals and objectives.
- Participation in the continuous improvement of the Asset Management System and Work Management processes.
- Expected to comply with all BWL policies and work rules.
- Predictable and reliable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Specifications:
Required:
- This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of three years’ experience working with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and/or National Electric Code (NEC)
- This position requires a minimum of five years of related analytical experience.
- Three years of proven experience managing budgets.
- Microsoft Office Certification or proven proficiency of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Must be well-organized, accurate and detail oriented.
- Ability to prioritize, work independently and fulfill responsibilities in a timely manner.
Preferred:
- Understanding of finance, budgets, reporting and the ability to gather data.
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, laws related to State and Federal communication regulations.
- Experience with concepts and theory utilized by utilities.
- Familiar with SAP and/or Adept software.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the working day. The person in this position needs to move about inside the office environment. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment. Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen. Must communicate frequently with other departments and employees both verbally and in writing. May need to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/ below the knee level, or reach above head. On occasion, may need to use stairs.
Works in temperature-controlled office environment, with occasional work in outdoor weather conditions, and in industrial environments.
Must successfully complete a background check, a substance screening and a physical (if applicable).
