SMSI, LLC is seeking a SYSTEMS Engineer 1 – System Engineer to provide support to assignments at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) . Completes assigned tasks under routine supervision and technical direction. The need is immediate. The position is direct hire and is a full-time position.

The Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the design solution fully meets its requirements and design intent. Systems engineers help develop and manage requirements, requirements traceability reports, V&V plans, qualification plans, and test and acceptance documentation. Systems Engineers apply system thinking to solve problems, integrate, and maximize the performance of complex projects throughout their life cycles, from conceptual design to closeout.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree (B. S.) in Engineering from accredited program or related science program.
  • A minimum of 2 to ten (10) years related experience in systems engineering.
  • Position may require the ability to manage other engineers and designers.
  • Experience interfacing with client contacts.
  • Requires a thorough understanding of the system engineering principles and have the aptitude to apply these principles in the execution of the job
  • Provides construction and project support
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to meet vaccination mandate requirements for Department of Energy (DOE) client site access for this position is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Must be willing to work in a design team environment, including directing the work of junior engineers and designers, and delegating work as required as well as take design direction from senior-level engineers
  • Interdisciplinary coordination
  • Develop calculations, flow diagrams, and specifications
  • Size and layout ductwork, hydronic and plumbing piping systems
  • Lead QA/QC processes
  • Proficient with codes, standards and guidelines and especially ASHRAE standards

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Capability with MS Office Suite
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with clients, contractors, and consultant on a day-to-day basis.
